The past week has been quite overwhelming. I had a lot running through my head about life, asking myself questions like if I’m taking the right step to achieving my dreams or if I’m just there trying to fit in.
From feeling low about the kind of content I put out and if I’m capable of being consistent to overworking this little brain of mine thinking about what to do next. Yes I’ve decided to put myself out there like some people would say “you’re exposing yourself” to do what I love and what I want.
In the past week that I decided to take blogging seriously, I’ve had mainly positive feedbacks. While I have some negative energies around me, I’ve decided not to let it affect me in anyway.
How did I get out of that sinking ship of feeling inadequate?
As someone who has successfully overcome depression countless times, here are some things I did;
I figured out what made me feel that way. Yeah, if I don’t know what the problem is, how can I find a solution to it?? I made a mental note of the problem and then sought solutions.
I narrowed the solutions down to something achievable. I mean something I can easily do without feeling overwhelmed.
I decided to find clarity. I find clarity in reading God’s word the Holy Bible. Reading God’s word gave me a better understanding of the situation I found myself in. In fact the problem was me. I didn’t trust God enough, it was my doubt which caused me to worry about things already sorted out.
“. . . I do believe but help me overcome my unbelief!” – Mark 9:24
And most importantly, PRAY. A simple heartfelt prayer is much more rewarding than hours of hypocritical show off.
“When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites who like to pray publicly on the street corners and in the synagogues where everyone can see them. I tell you the truth, that is all the reward they will ever get.
But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you and pray to your father in private. Then your father, who sees everything, will reward you.” -Matthew 6: 5,6.
Thankfully, I’m more motivated to push even harder.
Have you had any down moments recently? How did you overcome it? I’d like to know.
